PT2 Concept
CONCEPT
THE 6-15 INSTITUTIONAL / GENRE CONVENTIONS I WILL INCLUDE IN MY FILM ARE:
Character - One of the characters is going to be a kidnapper that breaks into someone's house, but the kidnapper alerts the Vulnerable person by knocking on the door. The other character is going to be a Vulnerable person who is innocent and cooking in her kitchen but will get kidnapped.
Setting / Time - The time we will be doing the filming of the setting. Will be at night time as many kidnappings are at night time, because no one will kidnap another person in the day because everyone will most likely see it happen.
Plot - There is a school girl called Molly that will be home alone cooking in the kitchen, until she hears a knock on the door so she picks up a knife to go investigate and the door is wide open, as she turns around she sees the kidnapper called Richard and at that point he grabs her and kidnaps her.
Props / Costumes - The props and costumes that we will be using is for the characters tha will be in the film. The costume for the kidnapper will be all dark and black so no one can see their face and they appear to be scary. While the school girl is the complete opposite she will be wearing a white shirt with some grey trackpants and white shoes, looking like a normal civilian.
Key genre elements - The Key genre elements that we have included is a knife that is used for cooking that the school girl pickes up after recieving a photo of her outside her house then hearing a knock on the door.
Filming / Editing choices - The editing choices that will be used in the film will be with the way the film is shown, because you can put the film in many ways but it all depends on which one comes across more scary and indepth to the viewers.
Sound - The sound that will be used in the flim will give a good thriller feel to it so it can put the viewers on the edge of thier seats and wish to know what happens next.
A PLOT SYNOPSIS (your storyline – 200-300 words):
First shot(s) of sequence
Action & Pace of film (mostly a list of the technical ingredients which make up the overall sequence)
What the camera sees, any relevant extras (ie. Non-diegetic sound in the form of voice-overs, symbolic lighting, items/characters in background)
Technical consideration of how to balance the climax and resolution, including editing decisions made before-hand
CHARACTERS AND NAMES: Molly is the vulnerable person in the film and she is a school girl that happens to be home alone, cooking in the kitchen.
Richard AKA the night walker is the kinapper that took photos of Molly and entered her home without concent and kinappped her.
Molly and Richard do not have a relationship together as they have never met before and this would be the first incounterment.
PRACTICALITIES OF FILMING/CONTENT
Examples:
How realistic is your idea? - Our idea is very realistic because normally when someone is home alone they do get kidnapeed which is a bad thing. and 7 times out of 10 it is a normally a school girl that would be kidnapped, because they come across as vulnerable as they have no parent to protect them.
Will you have any health and safety issues? - There will be no need or health and safty as the only thing we will be using is a knife but.. there will be no harm as the knife will be held carefully and there will be a parent there to make sure no one gets hurt.
Locations and any necessary permission (ie. Filming at a local iwi’s marae) - We will need permission because we wil be filming at Porcia's house and we have been given the green light to film there by her parents.
Timing (Weekend vs available hours during / after school) - we are filming on a thursday in the school holidays because it is easier to get everyone together.
Weather and back-up options - The weather will be fine it will no bother us on the filming day.
Equipment - We will be usng the camera, lighting, and sound equipment to make filming alot easier for us.
How-To’s in getting any difficult shots
Hi Kevin
ReplyDeleteOverall Score: 13/20
- you have some good elements here that indicate you have thought-through and planned for your PT2 film, you just need more depth to demonstrate you have a solid understanding of how film techniques contribute to meaning, overall. Some of your descriptions aren't detailed enough and don't use film language at an appropriate level.
For example your location post is purely photos of your location and short sentences describing what will be shot there. Location planning is a great opportunity to show off some movies with the same setting that inspired you. Describing conventions that will be achievable because of your location, is also an important aspect. (things like having a voyeuristic approach - things shot from intruder's perspective, watching his victim' - this could have been mentioned and expanded on, showing more justification for all your creative choices.
The other areas that needed detail are where you mentioned conventions you planned on using. For editing, you gave a very surface answer. You could have looked up lots of editing techniques (transitions etc) that you planned on using and the thing you were describing there is 'continuity editing' where the story is told in a linear way.
Also with sound - talking about diegetic and non-diegetic sound, soundtrack, foley and ambient sound etc is all important in show-casing your knowledge of film terminology.
