FP Concept
CONCEPT
THE 6-15 INSTITUTIONAL / GENRE CONVENTIONS I WILL INCLUDE IN MY FILM ARE:
Character - One of the characters is going to be a Bay guy that kidnaps a little girl and holds her hostage in one of his sheds. Another character will be a little girl that becomes a hostage and is very scared for her life and struggles to free herself.
Setting / Time - The time we will be doing the filming of the setting. Will be at night time as many people go "missing" or held hostage, because at night time no one is around and will witness what is going on.
Plot - There is a little girl that gets taken and held hostage by a bad guy that ties her up and puts duct tape over her mouth to make sure her quiet. He also treats her poorly and hits her with things so she can stop screaming when she is in fear.
Props / Costumes - The props and costumes that we will be using for the bag guy are all black cloths and a red mask to really hide his identity from the world and the little girl he holds hostage, the bad guy will be holding a Machete to perfect his look. The props and costumes that we will be using for the little girl are Jeans and a white T-shirt to show that she is a normal girl that just gets taken, the props that the little girl will use are duct tape and ropes or tiedowns to keep her from running around and fighting back.
Key genre elements - The Key genre elements that we have included is a machete that the bad guy will clean (wipe off the blood) and it is used to show how cruel the bad guy is and to see if he will use it on the little girl.
Filming / Editing choices - The editing choices that will be used in the film will be with the way the film is shown, because you can put the film in many ways but it all depends on which angles and shots comes across more scary and in-depth to the audience.
Sound - The sound that will be used in the film will give a good thriller feel to it, so it can put the audience on the edge of their seats and really feel for the little girl and think its real.
A PLOT SYNOPSIS (your storyline – 200-300 words):
First shot(s) of sequence
Action & Pace of film (mostly a list of the technical ingredients which make up the overall sequence)
What the camera sees, any relevant extras (ie. Non-diegetic sound in the form of voice-overs, symbolic lighting, items/characters in background)
Technical consideration of how to balance the climax and resolution, including editing decisions made before-hand
CHARACTERS AND NAMES: Jacqueline is the hostage in the film and she is a little girl that gets taken and held hostage.
The bad guy does not really have a name because he is trying to keep his identity a secret by wearing a mask and all black clothing.
Jacqueline and the bad guy do not have a relationship together as they have never met before and Jacqueline was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
PRACTICALITIES OF FILMING/CONTENT
Examples:
How realistic is your idea? - Our idea is very realistic because there are people who get taken and held hostage and no one can find them and 7 timed out of 10 people get taken at night when they go outside.
Will you have any health and safety issues? - There will be no need or health and safety as the only thing we will be using is a machete but.. there will be no harm as the machete will be held carefully and will only be used for craping against a brick wall and cleaning blood off of it. Plus there will be a parent there to make sure no one gets hurt.
Locations and any necessary permission (i.e.. Filming at a local iwi’s marae) - We will need permission because we will be filming at Porcia's house and we have been given the green light to film there by her parents.
Timing (Weekend vs available hours during / after school) - we are filming on a Thursday in the school holidays because it is easier to get everyone together.
Weather and back-up options - The weather will be fine it will no bother us on the filming day.
Equipment - We will be using the camera, lighting, and sound equipment to make filming a lot easier for us.
How-To’s in getting any difficult shots
